Dr. Jani is the Health Equity Clinician-Educator for Moffitt Cancer Center. He began his health equity journey during his undergrad and medical school years at USF and continued through his service as a public health physician engaged with vulnerable and immigrant populations in the Central Florida community. He has been a clinician-educator over 30 years, practicing as an infectious disease consultant, and hospital epidemiologist. He worked at CDC for a decade, in many roles including Preventive Medicine Residency Program Director. He is
committed to health and human rights, and focused on addressing
both structural determinants of health and the societal need for
everyone to thrive!
Shannon (she/her/hers) is the Health Equity Coordinator and Educator for Orlando Health. She is an experienced Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and public health professional with a demonstrated history of working in nonprofits in the health care industry. Shannon has a strong background in training of health equity, trauma informed care, motivational interviewing, and continuous quality improvement. She has specialized in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals with unique abilities, housing, and HIV services. With an undergraduate degree in English from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, and a Master of Science (MS) in Human Services/Nonprofit Management from Capella University, Shannon believes that the term "ally" is a verb and that every individual should be doing their part to move the needle toward health equity for everyone.
Dr. McGhee is the Educator for United Way of Broward County. Dr. Tisa McGhee, MSW, LCSW, with 25 years of experience in social work, is committed to promoting the development of transformational growth within individuals, organizations, and marginalized communities. Her research is community-based and participatory, with a focus on both macro and trauma-informed social work practices relative to the areas of leadership, advocacy, and public policy. More recently, her work informs health equity education and explores Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through a social work lens. At the core of all of her work: Building community using engaging and empowerment techniques to create social change. Dr. McGhee's degrees include a BA and MA in Psychology, MSW, and Ph.D. with a concentration in macro-organizational capacity in Social Work.
Jessica Zipporah Clowney is a master's level clinician who currently serves in the role as the Health Equity Coordinator at the United Way of Broward County. She has worked in the behavioral health and healthcare field for over 5 years and has been engaged in advocacy for patients and clients concerning their quality of care. She has specialized in the fields of mental health and substance use where she has used her experience to bring compassion and empathy into advocating for fair and equitable health care practices. Jessica has worked in a variety of capacities including but not limited to healthcare facilities with patients who have been involuntarily hospitalized due to persistent and pervasive mental illness, rehabilitation programs, detox facilities, the criminal justice system with individuals involved in misdemeanor drug court, insurance companies, and also providing individual and group treatment services as a clinical therapist.
With her focus on Health Equity Training, Jessica has been able to employ her passion for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging into promoting professional development in the areas of health disparities and social determinants of health. When she is not working at making her community a better and more equitable space, Jessica is an avid Crafter who loves spending time making jewelry and painting watercolors. In both her personal and professional life, she is dedicated in making the world a beautiful place.
Amanda Rivera is the Program Coordinator at Moffitt Cancer Center. She began her health equity journey at USF in undergraduate while obtaining her B.S. in Public Health. She continued to follow this passion by serving for two years as a middle school P.E. teacher in Ybor City through AmeriCorps. After serving in AmeriCorps, she became a full-time Spanish teacher for 7th and 8th graders in a local Ybor City middle school. Later, she obtained her Master's in Public Health concentrating in Global Health Practice and Humanitarian Assistance. She is passionate about equitable access to healthcare and services for every human being—Zip codes should not determine outcomes.
