The program was awarded the 2023 Research-to-Practice Award by American Public Health Association (APHA). The Research to Practice Award welcomes the best examples of current research that have effectively been put into practice.
Health Equity is when every person has achieved the opportunity to attain their full health potential, and no one is disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances.
The healthcare we receive, genetics, behavioral factors, and social factors, all predict our health potential. But not everyone experiences healthcare in the same way, causing inequities in health outcomes. The goal of this program is to leverage health providers’ understanding of health equity and to support the implementation of health equity-oriented actions in the workplace to minimize health disparities in the communities they serve.
