Health Equity Train-the-Trainer Site Champion Micro-Grants

Program Background & Purpose

Funded by the Florida Blue Foundation, the Health Equity: Health Providers Train the Trainer Program is developed and implemented by consortium partners, Orlando Health, Moffitt Cancer Center, and United Way of Broward County. The partners represent a statewide, cross- collaboration of health touchpoints, including a system, a specialty care hospital and a community catalyst. Within each partner organization is a team of diverse, highly experienced, health equity experts, advocates, and advisors.


To further support the Health Equity efforts in our community, the purpose of the Health Equity Train-the-Trainer Site Champion Micro-Grant is to provide funding to organizations to advance Health Equity practices in their own organizations. The aim is to provide up to $5,000 to organizations to take on small, health equity-related projects in their community and/or to help support the conducting of the Health Equity: Health Providers Train-the-Trainer program at their home organizations. Examples of appropriate projects include (but are not limited to) requesting funding to translate organization documents into another language, room reservations/meeting expenses to hold the health equity program training at their facility, requesting outside hours/FTE support for staff to take training, and funding to support a health equity-focused community events.   

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have completed the Health Equity: Health Providers Train the Trainer Program (must be program graduates)
  • Funding of capstone projects related to the completion of the Health Equity TtT Program is appropriate (Capstone projects are those Health Equity Activities completed during the program, that build upon one another to create a health equity strategy/project for your organization). 
  • Only Florida-based non-profit community-based organizations that are tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3), Florida governmental entities, Florida-based tax-exempt educational institutions, and Indian tribes within the State of Florida, are eligible to apply for funding. 

Funding Restrictions

  • Individuals are not eligible to receive funding (must apply on behalf of a 501(c)(3) organization). 
  • Projects must be related to Health Equity.
  • Services must be provided in Florida.
  • Funds may not be used for lobbying activities.
  • Funds are not permitted for the purchase of general purpose equipment (e.g. laptops, projectors, printers, etc.), Indirect costs, Rental of office or Storage space, Construction, renovation, or maintenance of office space/venue.
  • Funds are not permitted for direct medical care.
